Background of the Study
Timely and effective feedback is a critical component of the learning process, helping students understand their strengths and areas for improvement. However, traditional methods of providing feedback in classrooms are often delayed and subjective. AI-based real-time lecture feedback systems use algorithms and natural language processing to gather data from students’ participation, performance, and responses during lectures, providing immediate and objective feedback. These systems can analyze a range of inputs, such as quiz results, classroom discussions, and student reactions, to offer instructors insights into students' understanding and engagement.
Nasarawa State University, Keffi, is one of the leading institutions in Nasarawa State. The university faces challenges related to providing real-time feedback to students during lectures, especially in large classes where instructors may struggle to assess individual student performance promptly. AI-based real-time feedback systems could address these challenges by offering instant insights, allowing instructors to adjust their teaching methods accordingly. This study explores the potential of AI to optimize lecture feedback systems at Nasarawa State University.
Statement of the Problem
Providing timely and constructive feedback to students is a major challenge at Nasarawa State University, where large class sizes often limit the ability of instructors to deliver individual feedback during lectures. This delay in feedback can hinder students’ learning and performance. While traditional methods of feedback rely on written assignments or post-exam evaluations, they often fail to provide immediate insights into students’ understanding during live sessions. AI-based real-time feedback systems can provide instructors with immediate, data-driven insights into student engagement and comprehension, yet their potential application in Nigerian universities remains under-explored. This study seeks to investigate the benefits and feasibility of implementing such systems at Nasarawa State University.

Significance of the Study
This study will provide valuable insights into how AI can optimize feedback delivery during lectures at Nasarawa State University, improving student engagement and learning outcomes. The findings will contribute to the ongoing discussion on the adoption of AI in education and offer practical solutions for universities seeking to enhance their teaching methods.
Scope and Limitations of the Study
The study will focus on the design, implementation, and evaluation of an AI-based real-time lecture feedback system at Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Nasarawa State. It will be limited to selected undergraduate courses and may not be fully applicable to other academic programs or universities in Nigeria. The study will focus on AI technologies that can be integrated into the university's existing infrastructure.
